Perform acts requiring knowledge of skills such as are taught or acquired in approved schools for practical nursing. Give counsel and apply procedures to safeguard life and health. Administer medication and treatment as prescribed. Explain medication purpose, dosage, and possible side effects to patients. Teach and delegate to others the performance of nursing care activities. Supervise licensed practical nurse applicants and unlicensed assistive personnel in the performance of patient care activities. Communicate with patients’ family members as listed on their confidentiality release form. Closely monitor the behavior of potentially suicidal patients. Participate in drills for and responds to facility emergencies. Make essential entries on essential records; Accept and account for drugs and related paraphernalia. Schedule patient's activities/appointments. Attend in-service training. Perform simple maintenance on medical treatment equipment. Report unusual incidents with staff or patient’s supervisor.
