Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Lead Medical Assistant is the on-site clinical operations leader responsible for executing the Duly Primary Care model at the clinic level. This role ensures high-functioning care teams, optimal provider support, and consistent delivery of access, productivity, and patient experience outcomes.

 

The Lead directly supports providers while leading day-to-day clinical workflows, coaching Medical Assistants (MAs), and driving accountability to performance standards.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provides direct clinical support to providers, including rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and completing clinical tasks
  • Supports efficient patient flow and helps maintain an organized clinical environment
  • Coordinates day-to-day activities within the care team to ensure smooth clinic operations
  • Serves as a resource for Medical Assistants, offering guidance, direction, and support
  • Assists with onboarding, training, and development of clinical staff
  • Reinforces standard workflows and promotes consistency across the team
  • Maintains adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and documentation requirements
  • Collaborates with providers, clinic leadership, and front desk staff to support a cohesive patient experience
  • Communicates effectively across teams and escalates issues as appropriate
  • Supports implementation of workflow improvements and organizational initiatives
  • Supports management of in-basket work, prior authorizations, referrals, and general patient communications to ensure timely completion
  • Assists with phone support and coordination of patient access needs, in partnership with clinic leadership
  • Works with providers to assist with patient outreach, including scheduling follow-ups and preparing patient communications as needed
  • Reviews reports and workflows to ensure processes are being followed and operational expectations are met
  • Ensures co-pays are compliantly collected and cash handling processes are followed, including reconciliation and deposits
  • Conducts routine walk-throughs of the clinic to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant environment, including monitoring for expired medications and proper disposal practices
  • Supports training and reinforcement of regulatory and compliance requirements, including ensuring required certifications are current
  • Monitors clinic support functions such as transportation and housekeeping as applicable
  • Assists with team scheduling and coordination, including input on staffing needs, overtime, and time-off requests
  • Collaborates with clinic leadership and administrative teams on operational planning and execution

Qualifications

  • Certified or Registered preferred but not necessary
  • CPR Certification required
  • A minimum of 2 years MA/CMA experience preferably in the medical field
  • Experienced in staff roles with a history of good performance
  • Experience with Epic or similar EHR preferred
    High School diploma or GED and a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or Paramedic program required.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $18.00-26.45 based on certification, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
