The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison. Among the duties for the position are: Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR). Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination. Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood. Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms. Among the key duties of this position are the following: * Participates in data collection related to the patients’ status and needs. * Provides input to Registered Nurse for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating information pertinent to the patient’s status. * Provides direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care. * Informs and instructs patients/significant others on patient’s health/illness state and plan of care. * Assists patient/significant other in preparation for discharge and health maintenance in the home. * Documents all aspects of patient care.
