Job Title: Medical Assistant

Reports To: Center Manager

 

Summary:     

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Interviews patients and measures vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; records information on patients' charts
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations
  • Drapes patient with coverings and positions instruments and equipment
  • Hands instruments and materials to doctor, as directed
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials
  • Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests
  • Inputs data into computer to maintain office and patient records
  • Assists doctor with charting
  • Conducts hart auditing, CPT, and ICD-9 reviews
  • Performs venipunctures, EKG's, vital signs, blood draws, and injections
  • Preps patient for examination and treatment, and assists during minor office procedures
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing)

 

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Medical Assistant Diploma
  • Must have experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and IM injections
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must have a neat and professional appearance
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills

 

Working Conditions:

  • Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Travel – up to 5%
