Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Responsibilities:

Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures.
Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas.
Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Requirements:

High School Graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
Prior Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
Successful completion of BLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification.

Job Summary and Qualifications Position Summary: The Certified Surgical Technologist delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing various functions to support the efficient operation of the surgical suite. Under the supervision of the Circulating RN, the Certified Surgical Technologist prepares the surgical suite, positions and prepares the patient, and provides instruments, equipment, and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure. The Certified Surgical Technologist ensures a sterile field, proper instrument counts, and proper operation of instruments and equipment. The Certified Surgical Technologist participates in patient-specific care as directed and follows service excellence standards to promote optimum patient satisfaction. Major Responsibilities: Organizes the operating suite with instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for the day. Reviews daily cases to ensure adequate stocking. Ensures proper functioning of equipment/instruments prior to procedures. Creates and maintains an orderly sterile instrument table. Utilizes physician preference cards for efficient setup. Prepares for emergency and add on cases rapidly and effectively. Transports patients to and from surgical suite as needed.
