The patient to nurse ratio is set to match staff requirements to meet the care needs of patients. The Charge RN creates shift assignments based on patient census, patient complexity, nurse experience level, and staff skill mix. All nurses are licensed in the State of Washington and some are certified in their area of practice. All nursing staff maintain competency through continuing education, department in-services, and annual updates of unit specific competencies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This job is responsible for providing a wide variety of professional nursing services which focus on the provision of quality patient care consistent with VMFH (Virginia Mason Francisan Health) standards / values, applicable regulatory requirements and scope of practice for the nursing profession. Physical Demands: Nurses are required to stand, sit, and be mobile one-third to two-thirds of the time. They are required to use hands to finger, handle or feel over two-thirds of the time, as well as reach with hands and arms. Climbing or balancing occurs less than one-third of the time; while stooping, kneeling or crouching occurs between one third and two-thirds of the day. Communicating by talking / hearing occurs over two-thirds of the day. Amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 50% for up to 10 pounds and less than one-third of the time up to 25 pounds. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 26 pounds.
