Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Surgical Services Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting life-changing surgeries that heal and improve lives every day. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Preparing and stocking operating room with the right supplies, equipment, and fluids to ensure every procedure can start smoothly 
  • Transporting and transferring patients safely, verifying their identity, and following protocols for those with special needs or medical equipment 
  • Assisting with cleaning and turning over operating rooms between cases and at the end of the day to maintain a safe, sterile environment 
  • Monitoring equipment for potential issues and promptly reporting concerns to support smooth, safe surgical operations 
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the surgical suite, including hallways, supply areas, and common spaces, to help protect every patient 

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

In the event a sponge/needle count is incorrect, the circulating RN will inform the attending surgeon and the Anesthesiologist and a course of action will be determined and the action will be documented on the Operating Room Record as defined by facility policies and procedures. You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures. You will consistently assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well - stocked/organized , and safe patient care environment. What qualifications you will need: American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification. Surgical Technologist Certificate (CST) and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent required . Must maintain required education and certification. What you will do in this role: Demonstrate necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the surgical technician in accordance with the Association of Surgical Technologists Assist in preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments Ensure that surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings Assist in the turnover of the operating room suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment and environmental surfaces Prepare procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available Qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program as required per facility practice and state regulatory requirement; otherwise preferred Surgical Tech Certification State of Colorado Surgical Tech Registration required One year experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center) Valid BCLS Certification upon employment ***Online certification not acceptable Musculoskeletal Surgery Center located in Thornton, Colorado.
