Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant-Nursing Personnel Pool (PRN Varies)

Unit Description

It is the goal of the Nursing Personnel Pool department to assist with staffing needs throughout the hospital by providing supplemental Registered Nurses, Nurse Techs, Nurse Aides or Certified Nursing Assistants as requested by the nursing units. The Nursing Personnel Pool department assists with staffing licensed and non-licensed staff for Critical Care and Med-Surg departments

Patient populations differ based on area staffed and the clinical clusters include:

Med-Surg RN: 3E, 3W, GT/SCU, 4E, 4W, Cardiac ICCU, 5W, Med-Surg ICCU, SWCC, OPS, and Endoscopy

Critical Care RN: MICU, TSICU, BICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, COPS, Endoscopy, SWCC, EC and PACU.

Non-licensed staff are assigned to nursing units throughout the hospital according to established clinical competency and identified needs.

CNAs are responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The duties generally include observing patients, recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and reporting changes in patient conditions.

Qualifications

•Applicant has completed Nurse Aide course and presents Nurse Aide Certification. PCA or PCT certification also acceptable

•Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association

OR for Nurse Assistant

NAs are responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The duties generally include observing patients, recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and reporting changes in patient conditions.



Qualifications

•Nursing student who has completed approximately one quarter of their nursing curriculum (LVN or RN) and clinical experience Or applicant has at least one year of previous/recent hospital Nurse Aide experience.

•Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association

Unit Description The UMC Cancer Center has a Clinic and Infusion Center that provide care to adult and pediatric patients with non-cancerous, hematology and/or oncology conditions. Chemotherapy administration and practices are followed using ONS guidelines and institutional policies and procedures. Protocol participation is also available.
