Responsibilities The Registered Nurse provides direction to professional and non-professional clinical personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse provides high quality, skilled nursing services assisting all patients to achieve optimum health and functional health status following an illness requiring hospitalization. Through collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals, the nurse prepares the patient and family for discharge to home or another setting for continued care. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Previous clinical nursing experience. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current licensure in Texas as a registered Nurse Certified through the American Heart Association Basic Life Support required. ACLS certification preferred within the first year of hire. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Interpersonal and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication and team work skills. Basic clinical, computer & typing skills. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN)-Nights & Weekends is prepared to handle all on-going needs, in addition to urgent needs of patients and their families after hours in their homes or facility. The RN Nights & Weekends follows the established care plan of the patient while ensuring comfort care to the patient and support to family members. Location: Falls Church, Arlington, Alexandria Schedule: Every other weekend days , some nights and some holidays. COVID-19 vaccine required to be completed upon start. The RN Nights & Weekends arranges for, teaches, and supervises nursing care of patients in home care and facility settings in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team. The RN Nights & Weekends makes nursing assessments and uses critical thinking skills to provide care based on evidence-based practice, within scope of practice. May be asked to rotate to other regions/departments. Qualifications Experience Requirements: Must have one year of staff nurse experience in a comparable setting/unit. Hospice and/or palliative care experience is strongly preferred. Education Requirements: Must have a degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program. Licensure and/or Certification Requirements: Requires licensure from the governing body of practice for the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia, based on the state/jurisdiction of practice; or licensure from compact state. Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) is required to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. A CHPN certification is a plus. Driver's License: Must have driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle during working hours.
