What You'll Be Doing MAIN FUNCTIONS: Direct the day-to-day functions of the unit in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality of care can be provided to our residents at all times. Co-chairs the Quality Improvement and Outcomes Council. Develops, maintains and submits data for the Nursing PI plan. Co-chairs the TJC Care of Patients Function Chapter. Conducts chart audits as requested for the purpose of data collection and quality monitoring. Review facility policies and procedures annually to make changes as necessary to assure continued compliance with current regulations (e.g., ADA, ergonomics, air quality, etc.) Ensure that public information (policy manuals, etc) describing the services provided in the facility is accurate and fully descriptive. Ensure that all employees, residents, visitors, and the general public follow established policies and procedures. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the facility. Represent the facility in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies and third-party payers, or provide an authorized representative of the facility when unable to attend such meetings. Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the governing board concerning the operation of the facility. Assists the Infection Control Coordinator, and/or Committee, in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded. Make routine inspections of the facility to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed. Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies. Review and develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such plan to the governing board and ombudsman representative as required. Maintain a good public relations program that serves the best interest of the facility and community alike. Assumes responsibility for designated special project(s) as assigned. Delegate a responsible staff member to act in your behalf when you are absent from the facility. Attends workshops, seminars, and educational sessions to keep updated on changes in the long-term care environment. What You'll Be Doing The Vascular Access Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, insertion and monitoring of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC), Midline Catheter, Peripheral IV Catheters and other venous access devices inserted with and without the use of ultrasound guidance with minimal supervision, under the order of a Licensed Independent Practitioner and in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital/department policies. Responsibility also includes coordinating the process of PICC Line/Midline placements, communication with primary care nurse and providing education for care and maintenance of vascular access devices. The Vascular Access RN directs the PICC line process and team member, establishing a positive and professional rapport with other departments and staff focusing on the provision on individualized quality patient care consistent with organizational standards and goals. What You'll Be Doing RN is responsible for assessing, implementing and evaluating the delivery care; the professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team which may include coordination of services with rehabilitation staff to maximize the patient's independence to return to their prior residence.
