Summary Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner), RN (registered nurse), NM/ANM (nurse manager/assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee, functions as a member of the patient care team. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit. These are medications that can only be administered by certified medical assistants or medical assistants who have completed a formal accredited training program. Performs routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood work, does electrocardiograms and x-ray work as needed. Identifies vaccination needs for specific patient populations. The Adult Acute Care Unit is part of UI Health Care's Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. The Adult Acute Care Unit is a 30-bed, medical surgical unit. We serve a variety of patient populations, including the Family Medicine service along with specialized surgical patients. The surgical patients include otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. We are able to provide our patients with all private rooms, which allows for a more comfortable experience for both patients and their families. We have a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team that helps to provide excellent patient care to all patients on our unit.
