Job Opportunity: RN Registered Nurse Supervisor

Available Shifts:

  • 7a-3p, Mon-Thurs, no weekends

  • 11-7

  • Per Diem all shifts

Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, overseeing, and executing nursing services for residents while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Supervising day-to-day nursing activities to guarantee residents receive top-quality care consistently.

  • Collaborating with the Nursing Director to strategize nursing service operations and emergency support provisions for shifts.

  • Coordinating nursing activities in alignment with medical requirements, physician directives, and general care plans.

  • Managing and directing charge nurses to ensure residents receive proper care.

  • Adjusting care plans in collaboration with medical staff to address emergency medical needs.

  • In absence of superiors, RN Supervisor assumes total responsibility for operating decisions required by the circumstances of the moment.

  • Ensuring adequate relief staff availability before leaving the facility and notifying residents' personal physicians in case of significant changes in their condition or immediate medical care needs.

Qualifications:

  • The RN Registered Nurse Supervisor must hold a current state RN license and be a Registered Nurse in good standing.

  • Must have previous experience in a supervisory capacity.

  • Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • The RN Registered Nurse Supervisor demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.

  • Long term care experience preferred.

  • Must be knowledgeable of general rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care.

Additional Expectations: All RN Supervisor positions require weekend on-call availability to support both staff and residents. Compensation details available upon inquiry. Per diem staff are expected to fulfill (2) weekend shifts monthly to meet requirements.

Develops, maintains, and periodically updates written policies and procedures that govern the functions of the nursing department, as well as the facility’s ongoing quality assurance program. Completes daily rounds on the units to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met. Reviews nursing progress notes to ensure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care provided and that they reflect the resident’s response to the plan of care. Works with the Administrator to develop, allocate, and control the budget for the Department of Nursing Services. Maintains cohesive public and professional relationships, including community, resident, family, and physician services. Provides a formal liaison between the medical staff and the department of nursing services. Provides direction to nursing staff through written policies, procedures, nursing administration meetings, routine staff meetings, and written memos. Develops short and long-range plans for the nursing department that are compatible with those of the facility. Serves on various committees such as Patient Care Policy, Pharmaceutical Services, Infection Control, Safety, and Quality Improvement, as applicable; evaluates activities and recommends changes in operations. Participates in the assessment of residents to be admitted by evaluating the level and amount of care required in relation to existing nursing capabilities. Remains on call for emergencies 24 hours a day. Coordinates the revision and implementation of infection control procedures; assures all nursing staff are trained in all facets of infection control to protect staff, residents, and families. Makes recommendations to the Administrator regarding nursing care equipment and supplies and assures that adequate supplies are available. Assures that each resident’s attending physician and family/responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the resident’s health condition. Ensures that the nursing care developed through the resident’s Care Plan is implemented, reviewed, and modified as necessary. Coordinates nursing services with all other services and departments to ensure proper care of the resident. Assures that all Physician Orders are followed as prescribed. Assures that each resident’s accident or incident is fully documented and reported in accordance with facility policies and Federal/State regulations. JOB SKILLS Must demonstrate leadership skills, organization, and a positive attitude. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make decisions as necessary.
