Position Purpose: 

Common admission diagnosis are chest pain, pneumonia, orthopedic surgery and bariatric surgery on this 21- bed unit at Cedar Falls Medical Center.

What you will Do: 

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients.

Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs and PCAs.

Facilitates communication with physicians, families and other team members.

  

Minimum Qualifications:  

Current IA RN license

BSN preferred

No previous experience required

Key Responsibilities: Assess and monitor patient health status before, during, and after radiation therapy, including symptom management and interpretation of clinical data. Educate patients and families about radiation therapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care strategies to support treatment tolerance. Manage side effects such as skin reactions, fatigue, and treatment-area discomfort by implementing evidence-based interventions. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families throughout the treatment process. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and nursing colleagues. Maintain accurate documentation, including treatment progress, symptom tracking, and patient records. Coordinate imaging procedures and obtain outside images. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and radiation protection guidelines. Participate in quality improvement, patient education initiatives, and continuing education. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Plans, assesses, intervenes, and provides direct patient care using critical thinking and nursing processes (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
