The Registered Nurse is responsible for the quality of resident care provided to an assigned group of residents. Indirectly supervises all nursing personnel assigned to the group of patients for whom he/she is coordinating.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs basic patient care procedures/techniques competently, including the administration of medication. Organizes patient care effectively.

Performs assessment data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on age, physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status of the patient. Completes, reviews and evaluates the data collected by caregivers.

Develops a plan of care that prescribes nursing actions to achieve patient goals. Identifies patient/family learning needs and implements appropriate process from admission to discharge.

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse delivers quality nursing care through the utilization of the nursing process. Works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Carries out functions according to hospital policy, the hospital mission, and standards of practice defined by professional and regulatory guidelines. Directs, coordinates and delegates activities in order to foster patient / family centered care.

Responsibilities:
  • Assesses the physical, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient.
  • Plans and implements nursing care according to patient and family needs.
  • Makes appropriate interventions based upon individual patient needs.
  • Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for quality patient care, patient satisfaction, environment, and professional development.

Qualifications

 Required:

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Nursing program
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license
  • BLS certification

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will be assuming responsibility and accountability for a group of residents for or a shift of duty. Nursing care is provided through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Registered Nurse (RN) Duties and Responsibilities: Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, medication cart, medication room, etc.), resident care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Takes and records residents blood pressure and vital signs, administers catheter care, administers IV therapy to residents as ordered within license limitations, and provides respiratory care, e.g. oxygen, nebulizer treatments. Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care. Ensures the resident’s environment is as free from accidents and hazards. Immediately corrects/addresses potential safety risks as prudent and warranted. Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care Communicate/report information to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by facility policy and State/Federal guidelines. Ensures that all aspects of resident care plans are implemented and maintained. Make recommendations for care plan changes to the IDT per professional standards.
