Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Charge Post-Partum Registered Nurse for our Mom Baby Unit. You will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care in a high acuity environment in a leadership role. What you will do in this role:

· You will assess, plan, intervene and evaluate the care of post-partum patients.

· You will assist in newborn care.

· You will instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions

· You will maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results

· You will administer medications in accordance with physician orders

· You will assume leadership responsibility for your nursing team during your designated shift

Requirements:

· Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.

· Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN Preferred

· American Heart Association BLS

· NRP required within 6 months of hire of transfer

· Minimum 1 year RN experience in acute care setting preferred

· Critical thinking, service excellent and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills

Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitor patient for therapeutic response. Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication. Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teach patients, families and caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment Other Certifications maybe required during employment Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State No previous experience needed Some travel maybe needed for training Northside Hospital is a 280+ bed facility offering state-of-the-art treatment.
