Summary

Our nurse resident program is designed to support newly graduated registered nurses as they transition from a student to a confident competent health professional. This program combines hands-on clinical experience with education, mentorship and development. Residents work alongside experienced preceptors gaining exposure to the unit specialty while building strong clinical skills.

The Registered Nurse - New Graduate - Acute Care role is working progressively towards competency and independence in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The New Graduate Program is intended to support the new graduate nurse in making the transition from student to competent clinical practitioner.

Our 11 bed ICU is a multi-specialty critical care unit. From heart attack and stroke, to severe respiratory insufficiency and overwhelming infection, each patient has unique needs.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

Bean 2 is a fast-paced 12-bed Total Joint Center. This position offers the R6/B2 RN an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a supportive environment as an integral member of a collaborative team of highly trained staff. The R6 patient population includes adults and older adolescents with neurological and orthopedic conditions including closed head injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizure disorders, multi-traumas, and conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention. RNs providing care in the R6 IMC demonstrate astute assessment and critical thinking skills, as patients in IMC often have multi-system issues that require telemetry monitoring, intra-cranial pressure monitoring, medication drips, frequent intervention, or other higher acuity care needs. The Bean 2 patient population consists of adults who have undergone joint replacement surgeries. This unit serves as the Joint Center for our nationally recognized and Joint Commission accredited joint replacement program. The RN on Bean 2 coordinates important milestones of care for each patient’s visit to facilitate a timely and safe discharge.
