The successful Pre/Post-Op and 23 Hour Stay Surgery Center RN will be an integral component in facilitating patient flow and throughput while maintaining high levels of quality care which are consistent with recognized national nursing standards, legal requirements and Surgery Center policies and procedures. The duties will encompass the pre-operative care area and post-operative care area, which include both phase I and phase II recovery as well as the 23-hour extended stay unit. Essential Job Functions Oversees and directs the care of the pre-surgical/post-procedural patient and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout the patient's experience. Evaluates and completes assessment of patient needs to provide supportive care before, during and after surgery and maintains complete and accurate records. Provides safe, therapeutic, and quality direct patient care to the pre-operative and post-surgery patient by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner, setting appropriate priorities. Recognizes and interprets symptoms indicative of changes in condition of patient and communicates appropriate information to co-workers, surgeons, and anesthesiologists concerning patient care.
