Surgery Center Pre/Post-Op RN - 1.0 FTE

The successful Surgery Center RN will be an integral component in facilitating patient flow and throughput while maintaining high levels of quality care which are consistent with recognized national nursing standards, legal requirements and Surgery Center policies and procedures. Duties will encompass pre- and post-operative, and recovery. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelors degree in nursing is preferred Previous experience in ambulatory surgery center preferred One (1) year of nursing experience is desired Current Montana state license as a registered nurse required CNOR and/or AORN professional affiliation preferred BLS required with ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered Surgery Center Operating Room RN positions also available

Directs the plan of care while maintaining professionalism. Essential Job Functions • Utilizing a holistic approach and evidence based nursing practices, incorporates the nursing process into the goal-directed • plan of care for the patient. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to execute a plan of care appropriate to the needs of the patients. • Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry into patient medical record as indicated by patient condition and documentation guidelines, consistent with departmental policies and procedures. • Adheres to Billings Clinic safety standards, policies and practices. Anticipates and identifies problems and safety issues, then initiates appropriate action. • Maintains appropriate skill/knowledge and application of relevant and commonly used equipment specific to area, pharmacology and laboratory values based on disease process or physiological status. • Utilizes evidence based practice, supported by nursing research, within specialty area. • Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient/resident care. Incorporates the Magnet Model in transforming the work environment and quality of nursing care. • Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development needs; meets all system/departmental educational requirements. • Demonstrates collaborative, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patient’s families, visitors, and the interdisciplinary care team. • Consideration is given to the appropriateness of care based on the population specific needs of the patient. Minimum Qualifications Education • Minimum 2 Year / Associate Degree • Associate (or Diploma) RNs with less than 5 years of RN experience hired into this position must commit to completing their Bachelor of Nursing degree within 4 years after their hire date. Essential Job Functions • Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service. • Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examination, compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination. • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriate and differentiates between normal and abnormal information contained in the test results. (Patient Care, Testing Diagnostic Tests) • Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care and managing infections within the scope of their licensure and the expertise level of the supervising physician. (Patient Care, Procedures, Midlevel Scope of Practice) • Formulates diagnosis of medical problem, develops, implements and monitors patient care plans, records progress notes and assists in the provision of continuity of care; conferring with the supervising physician as necessary and/or appropriate. (Patient Care, Treatment plan, Patient Care Plan) • Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens. (Education, Patient, Educates Patient) • Refers patients to other health care providers and appropriate sources of care as necessary. • Participates in on-call rotations and off hour rounding as it pertains to the specific department. (working condition) • Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements; acquires knowledge and skills essential to incorporating into practice proven new evaluation/treatment modalities. • Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality; participates in the continued program development and marketing of service line. • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. Under clinical supervision of a physician and direct supervision of the Manager/Director, the Physician Assistant provides general medical care, treatment and health care services to patients within the scope of their licensure and expertise level of the supervising physician.
