About the Role:

The Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Wound Care plays a critical role in assessing, planning, and delivering comprehensive wound management to patients across various healthcare settings. This position focuses on promoting optimal healing outcomes through evidence-based practices, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The RN will conduct thorough wound assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement advanced treatment modalities to prevent complications and enhance patient quality of life. Additionally, the role involves monitoring patient progress, documenting clinical findings accurately, and adjusting care strategies as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oklahoma. 
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in nursing, preferably with exposure to wound care or related specialties.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and wound healing processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hyperbaric Medicine Team Training and Wound Care Training. 
  • Experience working in outpatient, home health, or long-term care settings focused on wound management.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and wound care documentation software.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed wound assessments, including measurement, description, and documentation of wound characteristics.
  • Provides consultation regarding wound and skin management as requested by physicians and hospital staff.
  • Apply advanced wound care treatments such as dressings, debridement, negative pressure therapy, and infection control measures.
  • Continuously monitors progress and outcomes of patients with wounds. 
  • Educate patients and their families on wound prevention, care techniques, and lifestyle modifications to support healing.
  • Develops, initiates, and revises policy and procedure for skin and wound care management.

Skills:

The RN will utilize clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate wound status and identify complications early. Effective communication skills enable the nurse to educate patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive care delivery. Technical proficiency is required to apply advanced wound care treatments and operate relevant medical equipment safely. Additionally, organizational skills support accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
