The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Sanford is a 40 bed, locked unit that provides a24 hourtreatment program designed to provide care for adults ages 18-95 in acute psychiatric crisis. The multidisciplinary team treats individuals experiencing major mental illnesses and addiction related problems. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care.

Our team of mental health professionals plan and work together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth.

Additionally, we have a full-time Nurse Educator on-site foradditionalsupport and further learning opportunities forall ofour staff.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse II - Acute Care – MMC BID SAN roleis responsible forthe management of patient care, including clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth/development, as well as the independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Required Minimum Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education:Graduate of an accredited School of Nursingrequired; BSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications:Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurserequired. Current BLS certificationrequiredor must obtain within30 daysof start date. ICU, SCU, ED and PACURN’srequire ACLS and PALS Certifications within one year of start date orin accordance withDepartment guidelines.
  • Experience:One year of RN experiencerequired. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Registered Nurse –Acute Care role.
