Our Wound Healing & Limb Preservation team offers hands‑on, specialty experience where medical assistants play a central role in patient care and collaborate closely with providers and nurses. You’ll build lasting relationships with patients as you guide them from initial treatment through healing, using cutting‑edge therapies that truly change quality of life. This means that travel is required for this role. The employees that we provide testing for will sometimes need follow-up in our OHS clinic space. Assistance in coordinating a warm hand-off to make sure proper care for them is vital to the success of this space. This role will be clinical in nature, but there will also be required administration duties such as scheduling for services and reporting of results to the employers. At our primary location, 35 Michigan St, we provide psychiatric medication management services, psychological testing, and an autism spectrum disorders clinic. Our secondary location, 25 Michigan St, includes psychological testing and therapy services. Because of the nature of our services, we tend to have a high volume of psychiatric and therapy services provided virtually. We currently have 8 psychiatry and APP providers and 18 psychology and psychotherapy providers with additional growth on the horizon. We have two clinical staff and are looking to fill an additional third position. The clinic also has clerical staff to assist with referrals and scheduling calls. Our clinical staff include both medical assistants (MA) and ambulatory care technicians (ACT). Responsibilities include rooming for virtual and in-person visits, inclusive of obtaining vitals and completion of necessary screenings as applicable, answering clinic phones, addressing in-basket messages, obtaining prior authorizations, communicating with providers regarding patient needs, and provide other clinical support as needed. While we are a behavioral health clinic and our clinical staff may not have as many medical responsibilities as other medical specialties, our patients are often experiencing many complexities and require clinical attentiveness. This serves as our primary location, but we also have outreach locations in Traverse City and Lansing. Our specialists offer a broad range of treatments and procedures aimed at helping patients breathe more easily. We address a wide variety of respiratory conditions, from minor infections to chronic, complex, and rare disorders. An exciting highlight of our department is that Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is a nationally accredited cystic fibrosis care center, leading the most current cystic fibrosis specialty research as a Therapeutic Development Network Center designated by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This means we bring cutting-edge research and new therapies directly to our local cystic fibrosis community. Additionally, we offer the only pediatric sleep program in West Michigan, flexible bronchoscopy to examine and treat complex airway problems, and a special breathing test tailored for young children or those with special needs.
