Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Prepare patients for examination, records vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care Phlebotomy Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call backs Perform other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications: Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required. Certificate/License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following programs is preferred (RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA). Current BLS certification is required. We currently provide inpatient programs and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) that provide therapy to those struggling with emotional disorders, substance abuse, and mental disorders. PRN 12-hour Day Shift and 12-hour Night Shifts available. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Function as the Charge Nurse, responsible for nursing care and supervision of LPNs, CNAs and Mental Health Technicians. RNs assure that care provided demonstrates the ANA standards for care and utilizes evidence-based practice. Collaborate in the development and implementation of the treatment program, including individual Plans of Care. Serve as the Medication Nurse as needed and assist LPNs and all staff as needed. Teamwork is essential in this role. Assist the DON as the liaison between the program staff and medical staff. Work within established budget and staffing guidelines. Participate in Performance Improvement by engaging in the plan, study, do act cycle of improvement. Serve as a role model to others of professionalism, positive attitude, and excellent patient care. Must have a Bachelor’s, associate degree or diploma in nursing with documented evidence of educational program focused on treating psychiatric patients. Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, 1 year of which was providing nursing care to the mentally ill, OR receive regular documented supervision/consultation from a master’s prepared psychiatric nurse.
