Job Summary and Qualifications

RAs a highly-skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse in the Float Pool you will provide the best possible preventative, supportive, and nursing care to each patient based upon the nursing process and in accordance with hospital policy and procedures. You will work to provide patients with an individualized care plan through assessment and planning. Our team supports each other like family and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

In this role:

  • You will utilize the nursing process providing care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, with a strong focus in Women’s and Children’s care areas.
  • Float to other departments within the Women and Children Units, including:
    •  FBP: postpartum care
    • NICU: stable feeder grower care
    • PEDS: support role with potential of evolving into primary role/charge RN
  • You will be required to float to nursing units where competencies have been completed.
  • You will be required to take patients and function in full capacity on each nursing unit assigned.
  • You will evaluate and document each patient’s response to medication, interventions, and procedures.
  • You will formulate and coordinate individualized patient’s plan of care based on assessment of patient’s needs. Keeps patient and/or significant others informed of plan of care.
  • You will maintain patient safety during all aspects of nursing intervention and documents safety measures in patient’s medical record.
  • You will provide care for the patient in collaboration with the patient/family, with regard to developmental, cultural and age specific differences, develops and implements patient care plans to include problems, goals, evaluations and interventions.
  • You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.

What qualifications you will need:

Registered Nurse, RN PREOP/PACU - PRN

The Pre-Operative/Post-Operative Registered Nurse, under the supervision of the PACU Manager or the Director of Nursing, according to the organizational structure, is responsible for providing peri-operative patient care in accordance with sound nursing judgment, regulatory and accreditation standards, and the facility's mission, vision, and values. The position must provide direct and indirect patient care across the age continuum; and utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation according to policies and procedures of the facility. Assesses and documents patient's physical and emotional status upon arrival in the PACU, provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered, performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative period, develops a plan of care based on the assessment data, monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthesia of patient status and notifies of changes/complications in a timely manner, provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity, reviews postoperative instructions from the surgeon with patient and caregiver and documents in medical record, provides written discharge instructions and any needed supplies, calls patients postoperatively to assess postop condition. Essential Job Functions: Shows appropriate delegation, while directing and supervising ancillary personnel in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating patient care in the pre-operative/post-operative clinical areas according to accepted standards.
