Responsibilities

Verify plan of care with the RN prior to each visit.
Collaborate with physician and RN frequently to ensure patient needs are being met; Notify them as soon as possible when patient condition changes.
Teach patients and caregivers self-care techniques.
Check vital signs.
Review all medications and perform a medication reconciliation at each visit.
Perform specialized procedures ordered by physician (i.e. foley catheter change).
Prepare equipment and materials for treatments using the aseptic technique.
Complete documentation timely and accurately.

Qualifications

One year of clinical LPN experience.
Current LPN license, specific to the state(s) you are assigned to work.
Current CPR certification.
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is needed to provide dedicated one-on-one nursing support to a high school student in Piedmont, SC. This contract position requires care for a cognitively high-functioning student who is paralyzed and needs specialized medical attention during the school week, excluding Wednesdays. The role combines nursing skills with hands-on support in a school environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care and support to a high school student on a 1:1 basis during school hours Monitor and manage the student’s medical needs, including ventilator care, as applicable Assist with personal care and mobility as needed, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the school day Coordinate with school staff and healthcare professionals to maintain a supportive, educational environment Ride the bus with the student to and from school as part of daily duties Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding the student’s health status Qualifications: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current certification and licensing Prior experience working with ventilator-dependent patients is preferred Previous experience providing nursing care in school or related settings is a plus Ability to build rapport with students and collaborate effectively with educators and families Strong organizational and communication skills to ensure continuity of care Schedule and Location: Approximately 30 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with Wednesdays off Position requires travel on school bus in Piedmont, SC This role offers the opportunity to provide essential nursing support that enables a student to thrive in their academic environment.
