The professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. Introduction The Thomas B. Finan Center is an inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Cumberland, Maryland. It is owned and managed by the state of Maryland. This state psychiatric facility operates 88 beds. The Finan Center provides services to persons who are 18 years of age and older. GRADE 20 LOCATION OF POSITION 10102 Country Club Road Cumberland, MD 21502 This position is located 2 1/2 hours west of Baltimore, MD. Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to provide general nursing including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of care given for a single shift to approximately 24 mentally ill patients. This position gives guidance to licensed practical nurses and direct care staff. This position may be assigned to any shift or unit to provide necessary coverage. All work is performed in accordance with established policy and procedures and professional practices. POSITION DUTIES The R.N. CI position is responsible for an advanced level of care, which requires the consistent utilization of experience, education, judgement and technical skill of a professional nurse. The R.N. is responsible for the assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient care service for a particular shift in a specific designated work area. RN, Cardiovascular Step Down

Experienced RNs may be eligible for a sign on bonus up to $15,000 with a two year commitment! As a Registered Nurse with the CVU, you’ll be a key member of our care delivery team, setting high standards for patient care. Responsibilities: Patient Care: Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulates daily goals and care plans for patients, involving them as partners and considering their holistic needs. Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues. Practices solid communication skills, articulating and translating patient conditions to other care providers. Negotiates and recommends changes in patient care and unit practices. Ensures comprehensive patient documentation to promote communication between caregivers. Incorporates goals from national professional organizations, business units, and health systems to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Creates a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships. Relationships and Communication: Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally. Assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs. Minimum 1 year of experience preferred BSN preferred. Lead others in applying the nursing process. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC approved national certification preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
