Pre/Post Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) - Registry

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for assessing and preparing patients for Cardiac Cath, Pacemaker Implant, Structural Heart and IR procedures. Recovers, monitors and cares for post cardiac catheterization, post cardiac intervention, post peripheral angiography/intervention, post pacemaker and post structural heart procedure patients. Receives direction from: Providers, Anesthesia providers, Nurse Manager, Cath Lab Manager/Director and Charge Nurse. Gives direction to: LPN, C.N.A

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, required. 
  • Successful completion of a 12 Lead EKG course

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of continuous direct patient care, required. 
  • Telemetry experience. 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • BLS, required. 
  • ACLS, required. 
  • MT RN licensure, required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Pre-Op/PACU delivery standards of care.
  • Knowledge of ASPAN standards/requirements
  • knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the organization. 
  • Know the definitions of fundamental computer terms related to applications, software and desktop PC's. 
  • Know how to open, read, and respond to email. 
  • Know how to manage electronic files. 
  • Know how to print electronic documents and reports. 
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and collaborative skills. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, be accurate and handle constantly changing situations. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations and handle conflict. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, adjust and troubleshoot monitoring equipment, IV infusions and computer equipment. 
  • Ability to operate specialty equipment related to area of expertise and to perform computer tasks at a "user" level. 
  • Work in a temperature-controlled environment. 
  • Potential contact with chemicals, blood borne pathogens and exposure to infectious disease. 
  • Able to lift 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques several times during shift. 
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions in the Stress Lab.

Northwest Specialty is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused RN to join the Pain Management team! Under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor, the Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum. Essential Functions and Qualifications: Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely. Sets priorities to facilitate the timely and efficient flow of patents throughout the day. Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by client facility’s policies, procedures, or protocols. Start and monitor IV’s, administer pre-operative medications, and explain patient's rights and procedures. Develops plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Closely observing patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication. Assists and maintains adequate ventilation, hemostasis and circulation; assess level of consciousness, provide pain management, and ensure the safety of the patient. Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to resuscitation protocols. Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility staff. POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for assessing and preparing patient for surgery, monitoring and caring for patient during recovery phase and assisting and preparing inpatient transfer or discharge from facility. Recovers and monitors higher acuity patients (for HOPD staff if required, training will be provided) with chest tubes and central lines, including arterial lines, multiple IVs and those requiring longer ventilator support post-operatively. Directly cares for both medical and surgical observation patients that are admitted to observation beds from the emergency department, through direct admission, and/or post-surgical status. Receives direction from: Providers, Anesthesia providers, Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse. Gives direction to: LPN, C.N.A. EDUCATION: Graduate of RN Nursing Program.
