Job Summary

Assist in the development of nursing care plans and performs a variety of both technical and routine nursing services consistent with such plans; is responsible for the skillful performance of nursing procedures commonly used in assigned areas. Works under the general supervision of registered nurses. Actual duties and responsibilities will vary depending on patient unit assigned. Provide comprehensive, excellent health care to all clients in Corewell Health South throughout their developmental life cycle.

Essential Functions

  • Perform various duties necessary to provide complete care, comfort and safety for assigned patients under the direction of a professional nurse. These duties may include routine daily care, obtaining vital signs, or performing special orders or treatments as directed by a Registered Nurse or immediate supervisor.

  • Assist in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients, and caring for patients personal belongings.

  • Observe patients, communicate requests, and report reactions or changes in condition to nurse.

  • Maintain a commitment to the achievement of quality health care services by maintaining patient rights, safety, privacy, confidentiality, and the "customer relations" philosophy.

  • Participate in maintaining, clean and comfortable environment.

  • Perform a variety of semi-complex treatments or nursing procedures, such as changing dressings, cleansing/irrigating wounds and incisions under supervision, performing catheterization and suctioning patients.

  • Maintain a commitment to career growth and development by participation in mandatory annual in-services, certification, Corewell Health South Regional committees, and educational programs for improvement of self to maintain competency.

  • Establish and maintain open and communications in all aspects of job performance.

About this unit This 48-bed unit is dedicated to ortho/neuro/trauma. Some specific diagnoses’ are total knee, total hip, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. Shift and Status Part time, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.., variable days and every other weekend Job Summary Responsible for providing daily resident care and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) along with providing a clean, safe environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse. Essential Functions Monitors resident as specified in plan of care and on an as needed basis. Assists residents with all activities of daily living while maintaining privacy. Assists with daily dental and oral care, required baths, dressing and hair and nail care. Ensures that residents that wear eyeglasses, hearing aides, splints and/or braces are wearing prescribed appliances. Assists residents in maintaining a home-like environment including washing clothes, dishes, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. Assists in encouraging residents to reach their maximum level of physical function via providing minimal assistance needed for ambulation, transferring and toileting. Document and reports changes in the resident’s mental status, physical status or appearance to the nurse immediately. Assists residents with the administration of oral medications ordinarily self-administered under the direction of an RN or LPN. Prepares residents for meals (takes to bathroom if needed, washes hands). Assists with actual feeding if needed. Accompanies residents to and participates in various activities and functions. About the Unit 8 South Oncology is a 44 bed, adult inpatient unit driven by the complex clinical and psychosocial needs of the Oncology patient population. Nurses on this unit care for patients experiencing various stages and complications from hematology/oncology diagnosis. Patients may range from the newly diagnosed to those seeking end of life care. Our unit provides the opportunity to develop critical thinking and assessment skills while working with high acuity patients, managing the latest chemotherapy and biotherapy regimes, blood product administrations, pain management, and central line care . Certified Nursing Assistant Long Term Care

Shift 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., variable days, every other weekend This position offers up to a $750.00 starting bonus! A Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Medicaid unit that has residents with multiple clinical issues including CHF, dehydration, cellulites, diabetes, DVT, and stable cardiac related issues needing monitoring. Nurses work closely with a variety of health care professionals including: doctors, social work, dieticians, PT/OT, hospice, and spiritual support. A Wing offers a well-rounded opportunity for learning, professional growth and personal satisfaction. B Wing is a 40 bed Medicare/Medicaid/Dementia unit. We provide care to residents with a variety of diagnoses. B wing is a great unit for nursing students to develop their organizational skills and gain some experience in dealing with challenging behaviors. This unit also works closely with a multidisciplinary team meets and discusses the resident’s plan of care. C Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Rehabilitation and Skilled unit and is a great place to learn basic med-surg, I.V. therapy & wound treatments nursing skills. Nurses on this unit along with host of healthcare professionals work to provide and implement the best treatment plan for residents. This fast paced and busy unit provide a great atmosphere for PT/OT residents to be motivated and reach their goals. About the facility With 2 floors, 4 units, we are able to provide care for long term care residents and post-acute rehab patients. The first floor has 96 beds and the second floor has 100 beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary depending on the shift and the population you will be serving. We care for dementia residents, long term care and a rehab residents. With 196 beds, we accept but not limited to patient specialties, such as general rehab, neuro rehab, cardiac, respiratory and cancer. We also have various programs for residents to participate in multiple activities. Scope of work Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality, direct patient care. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Provides direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or Licensed Nurse, consistent with policies and procedures of the unit. Responsible for direct day-to-day care of assigned residents/patients including dressing, bathing, transporting and feeding. Documents care provided as directed in a manner consistent with guidelines.
