Job Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will play a crucial role in the recovery of patients following anesthesia administration. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, you will provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients as they emerge from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the recovery process. Your attention to detail, clinical expertise, and commitment to patient well-being will contribute to the overall success of our PACU unit.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Michigan
  • Five (5) or more years of LPN experience in a hospital or long term care facility.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required thru the AHA


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, push and lift throughout the shift.
  • Capable of lifting and moving patients with assistance as needed.
  • Visual and auditory acuity necessary to monitor patients and interpret medical equipment alarms.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours/week

Shift: Evenings; 10 hour shifts; variable shift start times, and may include scheduled weekend shifts.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
