About the Laboratory:

  • The laboratory at Montrose Regional Health is fully accredited by the Joint Commission of Accredited Healthcare Organizations and registered by the State of Colorado. It is staffed by certified medical technologists and technicians working under the supervision of two full-time pathologists. The "lab" at MRH is a fascinating, busy, and interesting place.

Position Overview:

  • The Lab Manager oversees the daily operations, workflow, and regulatory compliance of the clinical laboratory. This role ensures that high-quality, timely, and accurate diagnostic testing is provided in support of patient care. Performs various analytical, chemical, microscopic, and serological tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Records test results, quality control, remedial action, and instrument maintenance performed. Performs managerial duties in the absence of the Laboratory Technical Director.
  • In conjunction with the Laboratory Technical Director and Medical Director, performs technical and regulatory oversight of the Chemistry and Hematology departments in the Laboratory which includes: monitoring continual compliance to federal, state and/or local regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, acting as a technical resource for staff, maintaining essential equipment function checks, reviewing and developing policies and procedures, preparing and overseeing department quality assurance/improvement and quality control programs.

All About You:

  • Education: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university. Required national certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent or equally qualified through examination by Health Education and Welfare accreditation program.
  • Training/Experience: 2 years of training/experience in a Laboratory performing chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, blood bank, and POC testing.
  • Job Knowledge: Complete operational ability in all lab areas.
