The unit cares primarily for adolescent and adult patients who have traumatic injuries, orthopedic trauma, and burns (20% or less). Additionally, patients requiring telemetry monitoring may be cared for on this unit. Typical patient injuries can be comprised of rib fractures, distal orthopedic injuries, traumatic spinal injuries, closed head injuries with and without state of confusion, traumatic amputations, hemothorax’s, pneumothoraxes, and etc. Here’s What You Need Associate degree or Nursing Diploma required BSN preferred One-year experience as registered nurse in acute care setting required 2+ years of Med/surg or Orthopedic RN experience in acute care setting (preferred) RN Registered Nurse upon hire required. Current BLS (required) – prior to providing independent patient care required. ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days required.
