Cardiology Clinic Full Time 88037BR Job Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Care Center, and in collaboration with the physicians and other clinical staff in the Cardiology Clinic, the Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care to patients in the UCSF Mission Bay outpatient Cardiology practice, supporting the Center for Prevention of Heart and Vascular Disease. Triage patients and responds appropriately according to protocol and nursing assessment. The Clinical Nurse 2 utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care. The Clinical Nurse 2 also provides clinical support to Providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination and continuity of patient care. The Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in person/video and through telephone and electronic communication such as in-basket messaging and any other electronic communication portal. The Clinical Nurse 2 participates in the development and implementation of educational programs and materials for patients and their family members. The nurse delivers direct patient care to a variety of patient populations. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient’s physiological and psychosocial development. The Clinical Nurse 2 will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. The team of over 30 Perianesthesia specialty nurses provide dynamic and compassionate care for a wide variety of adult patients following anesthesia. The preoperative care area prepares patients for surgery, assures their readiness, and provides preoperative teaching for patients and their families. Our postoperative area cares for patients recovering from a wide variety of surgeries and procedures for the following services: general surgery, orthopedic oncology, breast, plastics, urology, gynecology (benign and oncology), radiation oncology, head and neck, colorectal and endoscopy. The priority postoperatively is to physiologically stabilize patients, provide innovative pain management strategies, and integrate family-centered care.
