Summary The RN in the Float Pool is the basic level of professional nursing practice. She/he identifies and implements nursing interventions that have less predictable outcomes and evaluates the results of these interventions for a given patient population. A nurse at this level may be required to assume leadership responsibility. This individual will provide direct patient care in the outpatient Infusion Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: patient assessment, side effect management, administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusions and injections, central venous access management, assistance with patient cares, and management of a busy infusion schedule. Many responsibilities include working with physicians, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, and others. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.
