CHARGE REGISTERED NURSE - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH (FULL-TIME, DAYS)

Works with Manager to provide leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives. Participates in unit's Performance Improvement plan to improve organizational performance. Assists in maintaining budgetary limits in both operating expense and FTE's by utilizing limited resources appropriately. Responsible for meeting staffing standards on assigned unit/shift.

Provides for professional growth and development of staff.

  1. Assists Manager in establishing a climate conducive to meeting educational needs and efforts of the unit.
  2.  Assists Manager with tracking compliance of assigned staff with mandatory meetings, in- services, and tests.
  3. Oversees and coordinates orientation of new staff.
  4. Acts as preceptor when needed.
  5. Assists with conducting unit meetings on a regular basis according to unit standards.

Participates in completion of staff performance evaluations. Assists Manager in counseling employees, developing staff, and as appropriate, utilizing disciplinary process.

Supervises professional and/or technical unit staff and student nurses on shift.

  1. Determines staffing mix and amount based on budgeted hours and patient acuity.
  2. Assigns duties based on patient unit needs and individual expertise of staff members.
  3. Assists with tracking assigned staff attendance and tardiness in accordance with attendance standards.
  4. Responsible for assisting manager in managing staff schedules through self-scheduling platform
  5. Assists in interviewing and selecting staff for unit.

Collaborates with ancillary support services to provide a safe, comfortable, clean, and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Oversees maintenance of supplies necessary for providing emergency and routine nursing care.

Promotes open communication and continuity of care between shifts, floors, physicians/providers and departments through limited verbal reports, charting, patient care plans, and assisting with transfers. Willingly accepts assignments and demonstrates flexibility in working in different areas as needed.

Adheres to and provides assistance in orientation to and practice of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster plans. Provides input in formulating patient care policies and procedures and standards of care for patient care services.

Evaluates patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, re-evaluation, written documentation, observation, and comparison to established standards.

  1. Organizes patient care and ensures continuity of care based upon knowledge of patient needs.                               
  2.  Assures patient and significant others' participation in plan of care including teaching and discharge plans.
  3.  Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills appropriate to the age, type, and development level of patients.

 Administers nursing care to patients, as needed, to maintain clinical skills, assesses particular patient requirements and supports staff. As needed, and using approved methods, assists in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints and observes suicide/seclusion precautions including physical requirements for physical holds and safe transport of patients. Sets priorities and assures the completion of care through documentation for all assigned patients/duties within shift.

Assumes role of patient advocate respecting guidelines found in Patient Bill of Rights. Communicates with patients, significant others, and health professionals regarding care to patient. Maintains confidentiality of patient record and patient, physician, staff, or other healthcare provider information, whether verbal or written.

Serves as clinical resource person and participates in assessing patient/family status to plan patient's care. Assures patient and significant other participation in plan of care, including discharge planning. Participates in and provides direction for teaching of patients and significant others.

Cooperates with clinical instructors in planning, implementing, and evaluating students' clinical experience.

Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs; attends meetings, workshops, and conventions to enrich personal knowledge, growth, and skill in providing clinical care. Completes mandatory educational requirements in time specified. Serves on committees in patient care/nursing, hospital-wide or professional nursing organizations.

 Performs other related duties as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights 9pm - 9:30am

Responsibilities The Registered Nurse delivers, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with treatment team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. The Registered Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served. Qualifications Education : Graduate from an accredited program of pr ofessional nursing required ; Ba chelor’s Degree preferred. Experience : A minimum of two (2) years experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred. Licensure : Currently licensed to practice by the Indiana State Board of Nursing . Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of HWC within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in a se clusion/restraint intervention May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
