Certified Medical Assistant- Patient Service Rep. - Pain Clinic

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for coordinating and performing general office functions and receptionist duties including greeting patients, typing correspondence, filing, answering phones and transmitting messages. Completes return phone calls to patients, physician offices, etc. Orders medical and office supplies as needed. Appropriately screens patient referrals from physician offices and schedules appointments. Completes tasks to ensure patient registration and precertification. Inputs orders and processes patient payments. Performs office charge entry. Assists in delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse or a physician/provider in clinic and procedural area. Assists with procedures within scope of training/certification, including but not limited to: positioning patient for kyphoplasty, stimulator placement and injections. Assists physician/provider in preparing exam room, equipment and patients for medical exam/procedures by taking medical history, vital signs and lab specimens. Administers medication both orally and by injection as prescribed by physician/provider. Reinforces proper medication and dosage requirements with the patient and/or patient’s family. Maintains a steady flow of patient volume into designated exam rooms to keep physician/provider and patient wait times to a minimum. Conducts patient phone calls post procedure for follow-up. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. Supports organizational and department goals and participates in organizational/departmental Performance Improvement initiatives. Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee and business information. Completes on-going training and attends required educational programs. Performs other duties as required or assigned by Department Manager. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Requires High School diploma or equivalent. Requires graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent clinical experience. Current CMA (AAMA), NCMA or CCMA certification required. Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred. BLS certification required or must be obtained with 30 days of hire or transfer. Previous physician office experience required. CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT- FAMILY MEDICINE

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists provider by rooming patient, documenting signs/symptoms, obtaining blood pressure, weight and temperature as pertinent. Completes medical history forms. Performs set-up for procedures and assists provider with procedures, which may include performing dressing changes, ear washes, catheterizations, removing sutures and staples, removing castings, breathing treatments, assisting with cast application and DME fittings, EKG’s, urinalyses, strep, flu, pregnancy tests, and some injections as directed by the provider and dependent upon the providers’ specialty. Schedules tests, radiology exams and appointments with specialists as requested by the provider and/or patients. Enters all information pertaining to check-in/check-out as necessary in an appropriate manner in the EMR. Performs prior authorizations as required. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required. Assists provider with office exams, obtaining height, weight, BMI and other pertinent information as required. In Family Physicians, Women’s Care, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics: May administer immunizations. Updates immunization records and records VFC immunizations in VFC log. Performs phone triage when scheduled, including fielding patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs to patients as directed by provider or requested by patient. Faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed by provider. Performs walk-in patient duties as scheduled, which may include: triage, injections, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, collecting history and other information from the patients to be relayed to the provider for direction. Functions as a resource to visitors, providers and staff; greets everyone promptly and courteously. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of JMH. $5,000.00 Bonus Available * JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in interviewing and selecting staff for patient care unit. Works with Manager in providing leadership and direction in accordance with organizational departmental goals and objectives. Communicates with Manager regarding issues/challenges and positive situations from each shift. Assists with professional growth and development of staff. Participates in completion of performance evaluation of staff. Assists Manager in counseling employees, developing staff and, as appropriate, utilizing disciplinary process. Supervises professional and/or technical unit staff and student nurses on shift. Determines staffing mix and amount based on budgeted hours and patient acuity. Assigns duties based on patient unit needs and individual expertise of staff members. Oversees maintenance of supplies necessary for providing emergency and routine nursing care. Collaborates with ancillary support services to provide a safe, comfortable, clean, and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Assists in maintaining budgetary limits in both operating expense and FTE by utilizing resources appropriately. URGENT CARE CMA I- PRN

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Enters provider orders into electronic medical record. Ensures that designated work area is clean and stocked with supplies on an ongoing basis. Keeps physician/nurse practitioner and/or Director informed of any needed repairs pertaining to medical equipment/supplies. Assists physician/nurse practitioner in preparing examining room, equipment, and patients for medical examination by taking medical history, taking vital signs, drawing lab specimens and performing other duties when assigned. Administers medication both orally and/or by injection as prescribed by the physician/nurse practitioner while reinforcing proper medication and dosage requirements with the patient and/or patient’s family. Assures patient and provider wait time is kept to a minimum by maintaining a steady flow of patient volume into the designated patient exam rooms. Performs various laboratory tests, including but not limited to urine dipsticks, urine drug screens, and blood draws as requested by the provider. Communicates findings to provider and/or patient while educating the patient as needed. Consistently greets and treats patients in a professional manner as evident by demonstrating concern for patients in a helpful and positive way while maintaining confidentiality. Conducts patient callbacks, schedules medical referrals by telephone and/or information system and follow-up medical appointments by telephone per provider’s orders including laboratory test and x-ray procedures. Assists in taking incoming calls and making outgoing telephone calls for the appropriate medical services. Retrieves medical files and/or replaces medical files to the appropriate designated location. Assists in recording and securing all medications for the Center if requested by other medical staff before the shift is completed. No pharmaceuticals are to be left out during the day or overnight at any station or anywhere on the Center’s premises. Accesses the electronic patient information system and Johnson Memorial Health (JMH) computer information system to obtain vital records and dictation from prior medical services. Locates and retrieves patient and/or employer demographic information if patient’s chart is incomplete and/or missing. Follows Center’s and JMH’s protocols in emergency situations and participates in codes. Acts as recorder and obtains supplies in emergency situations. Additionally, complies with all JMH and Center policies and procedures. Supports the Patients’ Bill of Rights. Performs other related duties as assigned.
