University of Washington faculty may engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for the position will be: $10,834 - $15,391 per month ($130,008 - $184,692 annually) commensurate with years of experience as a licensed ARNP or PA. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include payments for vacancy coverage or premiums for factors such as acuity, nights, call should they apply to service. Description The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for two (2) full-time (1.0 FTE) Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at the rank of Teaching Associate in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine. Patient care efforts will occur at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Montlake campus. The selected candidates will provide inpatient care as part of the intensive care unit (ICU) services team at UWMC under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Medical, Surgical, and Oncology Bone Marrow Transplant ICUs. The APP is a member of the inter-professional pulmonary and critical care team that includes attending physicians, pulmonary and critical care trainees, multidisciplinary specialists (social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, psychiatrists), other physician assistants and nurse practitioners providing inpatient critical care at UWMC Montlake. The successful applicant will provide care independently and collaboratively with other team members. Duties will include rounding daily with the critical care team, writing daily notes, coordinating the care of patients with the service attending physician and fellow, and participating in teaching opportunities in the clinical setting. Faculty members are encouraged to provide input at regularly held section meetings to address clinical issues and to help ensure the efficient deployment of team resources. As a member of the inpatient care team, the APP will need to provide coverage on weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care. The Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA) will be deployed at UWMC and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC) at Northwest Hospital (NWH) and will provide hematologic/oncologic related evaluation and medical management of consulted patients. The Northwest Hospital Inpatient Heme Onc Consult ARNP/PA-C may work with a variety of hematology/oncology patients to assess and manage basic health needs, address treatment toxicities, perform procedures, monitor for cancer progression or recurrence, and consult with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the assigned consult oncology physician to coordinate care of patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges, and under the supervision of an attending physician. This position is hired at 1.0 FTE and Teaching Associates in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. This is a full-time, 12 month (July 1 - June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.
