Responsibilities

To provide and assist in the direct patient care of adults, adolescents and children, under the supervision of the Charge RN, as prescribed by the physician and the treatment team. Provides medical management, safety and program / crisis management for the patient populations. Would need to be able to work days and/or evenings and/or weekends/holidays. Individual must be an LPN. RN applicants for this role will be considered. Typical schedule will be eight hour day or evening shifts working 8 hours 4-5 days per week. 

Knowledge of appropriate nursing interventions with patients. Ability to accurately administer medications and monitor for side effects. Ability to assist in implementing special treatment procedures, and supervise patients/residents in the program structure. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients/residents of all ages and cognitive abilities. Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation. Requires organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.  Ability to maintain confidentiality. Requires creativity, high energy and problem solving skills.

Qualifications

Requirements:  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.  Frequently stands, walks, kneels, and reaches while working with patients.  Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients. Ability to perform CPR and first aid. Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.  Ability to work rotating shifts, and be flexible in own hours. Must be able to speak, read and write clearly, and organize multiple tasks at one time. Ability to visually supervise patients/residents & respond to requests for assistance from patients/residents and staff. Able to problem solve situations under stressful situations. Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.  Current Colorado Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license (or compact license). Prefer one year of inpatient psychiatric experience.
