POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) is a key member of the care team responsible for supporting residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

This role assists residents with medication administration, activities of daily living, and implementation of resident care plans while ensuring accurate documentation of services provided. The CMT helps ensure residents receive safe, compassionate care while maintaining their dignity and independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer medications according to physician orders and community protocols

Assist residents with activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, and mobility

Monitor residents and report changes in condition or behavior

Maintain accurate documentation of medication administration and resident care

Support implementation of individualized resident care plans

Promote resident dignity, independence, and quality of life

Work collaboratively with caregivers, nurses, and leadership to ensure quality care

QUALIFICATIONS

Active Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification required according to Maryland state regulations

Previous assisted living or senior care experience preferred

Strong attention to detail and medication safety practices

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Compassionate approach to working with seniors

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Meets the health requirements for employees providing direct patient care. Read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job. Have valid driver’s license and use of an insured automobile for work or access to adequate transportation. This individual must perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. Also, must perform routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort and wellbeing of the residents. Certified Medication Technician CMT - Essential Responsibilities: Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with community policy. Certified Medication Technician CMT reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents. Certified Medication Technician CMT supervises care staff in absence of nurses. Maintains, cleans and organizes the Medication Room. Maintains a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for resident activities. Attends all required training, in-service and staff meetings May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. Maintain resident confidentiality, staff confidentiality; treat staff and residents with kindness, dignity and respect. Comply with Resident’s Rights rules. Certified Medication Technician CMT - Requirements: A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Medication Technician certification required.
