UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner to join the Care mobile team to provide care to the community.

The UMass Memorial Health Ronald McDonald Care Mobile delivers an innovative, community-based model of medical services and preventive dental care to the vulnerable, socioeconomically disadvantaged, uninsured and undocumented children and their families living in Worcester County. The Care Mobile services 28 Worcester public and charter schools with nine neighborhood sites across the city and surrounding towns. Our routine sites include neighborhood and community centers, churches, and apartment complexes.

The advanced practice position needs to be an FNP or PA, as we see children and adults, with a minimum of 1-day shift per month which will be 6-7 hours (typically, 9am-4pm) on the Care Mobile or in the community. We are seeking a per diem FNP or PA to cover our clinic 2-3 days per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs) from June to December 2026, with a reduced schedule of 1-2 days per month and vacation coverage as needed thereafter.

License/Certification/Education Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree and Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Current Massachusetts license, issued by the Physician Assistant Board, and current NCCPA certification.

A Master’s degree and graduation from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Board Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.

Preferred:

3-5 years of experience

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of instED, the Virtual Medical Control (VMC) Physician provides medical decision making, including all elements of diagnostics, treatment, and disposition, to patients seen by instED's Mobile Integrated Healthcare service. The VMC serves as the clinician of record, prescribes short-term treatments, documents the encounter in instED's medical record, and relays any essential follow-up needs to the care team via the instED Clinical Resource Center (CRC) team. Essential Functions: Provide patient-centered, high-quality acute care in place to individuals with complex medical needs per clinical protocols. Work closely with mobile integrated healthcare clinicians (paramedics and EMTs) and other instED team members. Participate in biannual performance reviews.
