Responsibilities

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.

Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

BSN degree

Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.

Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Work Hours:

8-1700

Our Acute Care team spans several units with admission sources from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICUs and direct admissions. Med Surg Oncology (2 North): The patient population includes oncology, gynecological oncology, bariatric services, medical disorders, women's services (including breast surgery), perinatal loss, post-partum readmissions and hospice patients transitioning to the end stage of life. Chemotherapy administration is an important component of the unit and is administered by chemotherapy certified RNs. Chemotherapy certification is required 8-12 months post hire. Responsibilities: RESPONSIBLE FOR: Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves as resource for guidance and assistance to the staff. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of a nursing program.
