Job Summary and Qualifications 

As a PACU Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in the immediate post-operative care of surgical patients. Your responsibilities will include managing airway support, closely monitoring neurological and cardiac status, and responding promptly to any complications or side effects. You will provide initial wound care to the patients’ surgical site and ensure patient stability during recovery. You will collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia team. This role includes on-call availability during select non-business hours which will be discussed in the interview.

  • Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care

What you will do in this role:

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), therapy, and more.
  • Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly
  • Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures

What qualifications you will need: 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree

What you will do in this role: PACU Prepare your patients’ care area adequately and ensure necessary equipment and supplies and provided You will demonstrate proper airway management techniques Monitor your patients according to policy (vital signs, temperature, cardiac, etc.). You will exhibit proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks Perform and document head to toe evaluation of your patients utilizing an approved scoring system in line with HCA policy and procedure Check dressings and/or operative site of your patients and report abnormalities to the surgeon Provide a safe and comforting environment for your patients and family Ensure your patients meet discharge criteria PreOp Prepare your patients’ care area adequately before case Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patients’ procedure Conduct complete physical and psychological assessment and evaluation of your patients’ history and diagnostic tests Review your patients’ charts for completeness prior to surgery Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed Monitor your patients until transferred to the OR Qualifications you will need: Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher degree in Nursing Required 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery Active RN license as required by state of employment BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable ACLS required within 30-days of hire PALS if required by facility within 30-days of hire Countryside Surgery Center is proud to have a long and distinguished reputation as a provider of ambulatory surgical care in Clearwater Florida.
