Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.
  • Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.

  • Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.

  • Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.

  • Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.

  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.

  • Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.

  • Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness, patient rights, and a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

Education/Training  

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department. 

 

Licensure/Certification  

  • Maintains current State of Alabama RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.  

 

Experience

  • Must have at least 1 year of RN experience.
