Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatrics – Memorial Regional Medical Center

Job Summary:

The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

  • Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status

  • Determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs

  • Implementing clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care

  • Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes

  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, and safely demonstrates basic knowledge of the contemporary nursing practice

  • Provides episodic (outpatient) and inpatient (at designated units) pediatric nursing care where applicable

  • Applies knowledge of contemporary Pediatric nursing practice and future innovations

  • Utilizes nursing practice to the care of pediatric patients that require nursing assessment and interdisciplinary team interventions

  • Evaluates, updates and revises plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes

  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)

Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • BLS Basic Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support  (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, PALS required within 6 months of hire based on departmental requirements)

Experience:

  • One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Recent Medical/Surgical, NICU, Pediatric, OB, ED or critical care experience (preferred, not required)

Training:

  • EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required)
