Job Summary

We are currently looking for a qualified PRN Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team of dedicated Behavioral Health professionals working with Adolescents dealing with psychiatric issues. The Mental Health Tech (MHT) provides direct care support and functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to adolescent patients. The Mental Health Tech works under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

 

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
  • Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
  • Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.

Skills and Competencies

  • Previous experience in a mental health hospital setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective patient interaction.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to exhibit empathy, respect and compassion that involve understanding and care for patients.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Some college course work preferred.
  • Prefer one (1) year related experience. Psychiatric Technician experience is preferred.

Shift Differential for night and weekend shifts.

 

M-F (7pm-7am) $2.00/hour

S/S (7am-7pm) $1.50/hour

S/S (7pm-7am) $3.50/hour

A Nursing Assistant I (Per Diem) is needed for the Geriatric / Crisis Stabilization and Perinatal Psychiatry Unit (4 Neurosciences). 4 Neurosciences is comprised of three adult units which serve specific mental health populations. Geropsychiatry is a 10-bed unit serving geriatric patients admitted for the management of multiple medical and mental health issues. Crisis Stabilization is a 15-bed unit with nursing care provided to patients hospitalized for stabilization during acute mental health episodes. Perinatal Psychiatry is a 5-bed unit solely focused on treatment of women with psychiatric disorders during pregnancy or post-partum. This is a Per Diem/ at-will position requiring the ability to generally work a minimum of 12 hours every 2 weeks; Day & Night Rotating shifts, general hours are 7am-7:30pm & 7pm-7:30am, with weekend and holiday rotation. Manager/department may change the shift based on the needs of the department. This position requires the ability to attend the required weeklong hospital orientation offered every two weeks. Orientation Schedule: Monday & Tuesday – Virtual ; Wednesday – 8am to 10am Virtual and in person from 12pm to 5 pm; and Thursday - Virtual.
