Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Performs a variety of patient care activities in accordance with established standards and practice. Emphasizes health promotion as well as acute and chronic disease management. Augments a physician?s ability to provide medical services to patients; collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations and provides direct patient care services.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master?s degree in Nursing, OR graduate of an accredited Physician Assistants program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.

This is a full-time position working mostly 10-hour shifts, rotating in-patient and out-patient management of patients with heart failure, LVAD and heart transplant. This is a great opportunity to be employed by one of the nation's leading cardiology programs. You will work alongside some of the most respected and highly-trained physicians. The Samsky Advanced Heart Failure Center is one of the top 10 national LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implanting center, helping end-stage heart failure patients maintain or improve organ function. Piedmont Heart Institute has one of two heart transplant programs in Georgia. Responsibilities: In this position you will: Assist in the evaluation and treatment of Cardiology patients in an inpatient setting. Independently manage patients with heart failure in the Samsky Advanced Heart Failure Center. Overview: Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Critical Care - Piedmont Heart Institute Responsibilities: PHI's critical care extenders provide 24-hour, on-site coverage to some of the highest acuity patients in the nation, treating and managing patients with coronary artery disease, advanced heart failure, structural heart disease, high risk percutaneous coronary interventions, arrhythmia, cardiogenic shock, percutaneous valve interventions, temporary mechanical circulatory support including ECMO, and cardiothoracic surgery including transplant and ventricular-assist device implantation. Key Responsibilities of Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners on the Cardiac Critical Care Service include: Provides direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients within institutional guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patient's physician. Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status Within the credentialing standards of the Hospital, inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, and intra-aortic balloon pump catheters. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administration of life supporting drugs according to established protocols. Assists with ECPR and ECMO cannulations.
