This position provides leadership for the nursing and other professional staff within Patient Care Services to insure consistent, high quality care delivery in a cost effective manner by following the ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance Standards and Management Philosophy of the organization. Has administrative responsibility and authority for the development of ongoing assessment for programs, policies and procedures that define and dictate the provision of patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required

2. Graduate degree in Nursing, Education, Hospital Administration, Business Administration and/or related field is required.

3. Membership in at least one professional organization is required.

4. Current West Virginia nursing license required.

EXPERIENCE:

1. A minimum of seven years of progressive nursing management, knowledge and clinical experience is required.

Responsible for the successful development and implementation of specifically approved programs within Patient Care Services.

9. Keeps current with changes in public, legislative, and social policies which impact Nursing Services and provides analysis and recommendations to the President on policy positions.

10. Assists with hospital’s building, remodeling and physical expansion programs.

11. Works collaboratively with physicians to assure that standards for excellence in medicine and patient care are met, patients and employees are treated fairly and with respect, and that physician needs are met in a positive and responsive fashion. Establishes effective relationships with the medical staff.

12. Works with the Medical Staff to plan and implement services which meet the community’s health care needs. Actively participates in Medical Staff Committees including Medical Executive Committee, by contributing expertise and providing administrative support and assistance.

13. Ensures effective, efficient and economical patient care outcomes. Lead initiatives to continually assess productivity and throughput to optimize resources

14. Works cohesively with related team members to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies that ensure a qualified and stable workforce

Constantly assess staffing options in a creative fashion. Assure strong leadership, accomplished through a positive team approach, resulting in achievement of standards for all service lines, both inpatient and ambulatory.

15. Works closely with other members of Senior Management to devise budgets and support strategic and tactical plans. Facilitates the work of the office of the President in implementing the goals of the strategic plan. Participates in Board meetings by providing reports to the Board and its committees as needed.

16. Seeks opportunities to strengthen mission, vision and values of the organization. Interfaces with internal and external affiliates and corporate services.

17. Develops and maintains effective relationships in the professional and civic communities. Participates in community activities and professional organizations to promote the services, programs and mission.
