Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) - 32 hours/week, Augusta

Job Summary:

MaineGeneral Health is hiring a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the surgical process by delivering compassionate, holistic care to patients before, during, and after surgery. You’ll ensure patient safety and comfort, support positive outcomes, and collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care.

Job Description:

Position: Perioperative Registered Nurse

Location: Alfond Center for Health, Augusta
Schedule: Part-time (32 hours/week)

Shift:  Days (7a - 3p) with call rotation

What You'll Do:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots surgical equipment. Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

What We're Looking For:

  • Current State of Maine RN license (or ability to obtain promptly).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN is required.
  • Previous OR experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and team members.
