About the Role:
The RN- ICU (Per Diem) plays a critical role in delivering specialized nursing care to critically ill patients within the Intensive Care Unit. This position requires the ability to quickly adapt to varying patient needs and provide high-quality, evidence-based care on a flexible schedule. The nurse will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient conditions, administer treatments, and respond to emergencies with precision and compassion. The role demands a strong commitment to patient safety, continuous assessment, and effective communication with patients' families and healthcare providers. Ultimately, the RN- ICU (Per Diem) ensures optimal patient outcomes through expert clinical skills and compassionate care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Intensive Care Unit or equivalent critical care setting.
- Strong knowledge of ICU equipment, patient monitoring systems, and critical care pharmacology.
- Ability to work on a per diem basis with flexible availability to meet unit staffing needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or equivalent specialty certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and computerized documentation.
- Familiarity with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Previous experience in a high-volume tertiary care or trauma center ICU.
- Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing life-support equipment.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document changes in condition promptly and accurately.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations, including code blue events, and provide advanced cardiac life support as needed.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, procedures, and post-ICU care to support recovery and informed decision-making.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with ICU best practices and technologies.
