The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision and coordination of patient centered care within an inpatient psychiatric setting. The RN delivers safe, trauma informed, evidence based nursing care to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric conditions, behavioral health crises, and co occurring medical needs. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team—including psychiatry, social work, therapy, and mental health assistants—to promote stabilization, safety, and recovery. The RN provides leadership through delegation, clinical judgment, and effective communication while upholding professional nursing standards and organizational policies. The RN practices in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1978, Article 15 (Health Occupations), Part 172 (Nursing), and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the needs of patients across the lifespan.
$5,000 Sign On Bonus*
Pay Range: $35.00 - $51.64/hour
Employment Type: Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks
Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, 3 days per week. Every 3rd weekend required. Requirements: Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing Program required, Current Michigan RN License (or completed by end of orientation) required, Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire) required.

- Environmental Health – Promotes a safe, therapeutic, and ligature‑free environment
- Collegiality – Contributes to the professional development of peers and students
Standards of professional performance: Leadership
- Demonstrates leadership within the psychiatric care environment
- Supervises mental health assistants and delegates tasks appropriately
- Participates in shared decision‑making and unit‑based initiatives
- Supports organizational goals, safety priorities, and quality measures
Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conducts comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments, including mental status exams, suicide risk assessments, and behavioral observations
- Identifies psychiatric nursing diagnoses using critical thinking and clinical judgment
- Responds to crises including behavioral escalations, psychiatric emergencies, and medical instability
- Assesses environmental and safety risks including elopement, self‑harm, and aggression
- Documents behavioral observations and interventions accurately and timely
Outcomes Identification & Planning
- Develops individualized plans of care addressing psychiatric symptoms, coping skills, safety needs, and recovery goals
- Collaborates with the treatment team to support stabilization and discharge planning
- Engages families and support systems when appropriate
Implementation
- Provides trauma‑informed, patient‑centered interventions
- Administers psychiatric and medical medications and monitors therapeutic and adverse effects
- Implements de‑escalation strategies and participates in crisis intervention using approved techniques
- Maintains a therapeutic milieu that supports safety and recovery
Evaluation
- Evaluates patient progress toward stabilization and treatment goals
- Adjusts care plans based on ongoing assessment and team input
Patient Education
- Assesses learning needs related to psychiatric conditions, medications, coping strategies, and discharge planning
- Provides individualized education to support understanding and long‑term wellness
- Reinforces coping skills and self‑management strategies
