Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Nurse Supervisor in the Medical Oncology Unit is a professional Registered Nurse with in-depth scientific knowledge, technical expertise, skill and competency that serves as a consultant and resource to the nursing staff in the unit. You will assume responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit. We function as a team and work hard to support the patients in our community and each other. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.
In this role:
- You will have the clinical competence to serve as resource to the staff and be self-directed with the ability to lead others.
- You will supervise personnel providing direct patient care, with delegation of activities based on patient care needs and competencies of available patient care staff.
- You will support the staff and work as a change agent, supporting system wide nursing initiatives.
- You will assess the need for and assist in the creation and implementation of staff development programs to enhance professional growth of personnel.
- You will facilitate ongoing performance improvement activities which correlate to the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program with involvement of all levels of staff on designated shifts as appropriate.
- You will make assignments for the present or following shift to provide for smooth transition, ensuring appropriate assignments throughout shift to cover changing patient needs and staff availability due to absences, breaks, etc.
What qualifications you will need:
Current Alaska nursing license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years clinical practice in the clinical specialty of his/her unit required, prefer 3 years.
- 3 years clinical practice experience in the clinical specialty of his/her unit preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) preferred.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course within 1 year of hire date preferred.
- Basic Rhythm Interpretation class required within 6 months of hire.
- Leadership and management experience preferred.
