Department Details

The Broadway ICU is an 18 bed unit encompassing the 2nd floor of the East tower at the Broadway Hospital. While we have a focus in Oncology, you'll find that we see a variety of complex medical and surgical ICU patients including severe sepsis, respiratory failure, polysubstance abuse, multi-system organ failure, general surgical, kidney transplants and bone marrow transplants. As an Academic Teaching Facility, we provide education and experience with all these types of patients and offer a number of professional development opportunities.

Experienced RN preferred.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Demonstrates knowledge of pathophysiology, social determinants of health, and evidence-based practice of scope. Supports quality improvement and documentation to effectively maintain program recognition for an effective Diabetes Self-Management Education program. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, referring provider, and others related to diabetes care and support plan. CDCES will maintain certification on insulin pumps per requirements based upon department needs. CDCES may provide more complex management recommendations in collaboration with patient and provider according to approved protocols and level of scope. May provide education or support to community members related to diabetes management or prevention. Qualifications Must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing or willing to obtain within three years. Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) preferred. Two years of experience as a clinical nurse is required with demonstrated leadership skills. Previous experience and knowledge of Diabetes Management preferred.
